What CPU will power the next iPhone

Samsung 1GHz ARM or nVidia Tegra?

Samsung has just announced a new 1GHz ARM CPU similar to the one that is in the existing iPhone 3G S. So what everyone wants to know now is if this new CPU is destined for the next generation iPhone.

The new CPU is the brain child of Samsung and Intrinsity. The magic behind it (in addition to its speed) is that it can fit into almost any existing S5PC100 design with very little change. This could make for a quick upgrade to the next generation iPhone that is currently in the prototype stage.

Apple has been using Samsung as the provider for their iPhone CPUs in the iPhone 3G and 3G S. Everything would seem to point in the direction of this being the heart of the next iPhone.

But, it is not that simple...after all there are other manufactures out there with 1GHz offerings coming up, and there is also nVidia's Tegra. Sine Apple has been moving towards higher graphics standards on the iPhone it is also possible that Terga could end up under the touch screen of the next iPhone. After all Apple has an existing relationship with nVidia too.
