Thermalright go all out with full-copper TRUE 120

Steve Dougherty | | Oct 13, 2008 7:55 PM CDT

Reknowned for being one of the best aftermarket coolers on the market, the Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme has been selling like hotcakes for well over a year with very little else to have come out that threatens its turf.

Not all that long ago Thermalright gave it a bit of a restyle, dressing it in a stealthy black nickel plated covering which some found not only even more aesthetically pleasing, but also superior in terms of its heat transfer properties.

Fast forward a few more months and it's been brought to our attention that Thermalright plan to release the most badass derivative of all, a full-copper model from head to toe.

UAC in Windows 7 will be MUCH better

Steve Dougherty | Software & Apps | Oct 13, 2008 7:17 PM CDT

No doubt for the majority of you who moved over to Vista, the words "User Account Control" (or UAC for short) was quick to raise its ugly head and give you a sour experience; until you found out the pesky and overly domineering 'security' feature could be turned OFF, that is.

Well, you'll be glad to know Microsoft are now acknowledging that UAC was certainly way too restrictive and has learned from its mistake. The giant software mob hopes to put things right with Windows 7; UAC will still be there, but the company will first and foremost tone it down so it's not so 'in your face'.

A-DATA displays triple-channel DDR3 OC at 2000MHz

Cameron Wilmot | RAM | Oct 13, 2008 6:08 AM CDT

While sadly ASUS forgot to invite us to its X58 launch event last week in Taipei, A-DATA were kind enough to send through plenty of data about the event for us to talk about right here.

ASUS were out in force showing off their ranges of Core i7 supported X58 Express motherboards to attending press but maybe more interesting was the fact that A-DATA displayed its DDR3-1600X triple channel memory working at 2000MHz DDR (and beyond) - oh and by the looks of things, there were plenty of showgirls on standby incase the crowd got bored.

Pixar Re-Rendering Original Toy Story Files

Ben Gourlay | | Oct 9, 2008 12:47 AM CDT

Collider have a pretty interesting article interview with Pixar director Jim Morris regarding re-rendering Toy Story for 3D.

Next year, Disney will re-release Pixar's 1995 classic to 3D theatres, in preparation for the release of Toy Story 3 in 2010. However, it seems that technology bottlenecks back in the day meant the film could only be rendered in 720p. So not only do Pixar have to re-jig the original files for 3D, they also need to re-render the film at a much higher resolution (most likely 4K resolution), so hopefully we will have Toy Story looking great in 1080p for the eventual Blu-ray release.
