55nm NVIDIA GT200 GPU performing R700 stakeout

We reported recently, on suggestions that NVIDIA has shifted into gear, aiming to improve the prospects of its 65nm GT200 GPU with a, much vaunted, 55nm refresh.

According to this article from Fudzilla, not citing its sources, the 55nm refresh of NVIDIA's GT200 powerhouse has received much loving attention and is being prepared to counteract AMD's warrior, the R700.

Intel Montevina successor set for Q3 2009 stage

Citing its sources as notebook manufacturers, this report from DIGITIMES, explores the possibility of Intel's Nehalem microarchitecture, not reaching mobile shores until Q3 2009.

Calpella, which will succeed the very recent Centrino 2 (Montevina) platform, is the sixth generation of Intel's Centrino vision and, will usher in some fundamental changes to boot.

Lenevo IdeaPad S10 Atom equipped UMPC info

Lenevo have just officially unveiled their new IdeaPad S10 ulta-portable notebook sporting Intel's N270 Atom processor. It looks like it could potentially be a bit of an Eee PC killer, measuring 9.8" x 7.2" with a weight of just 2.4 pounds in its lightest form.

Lenovo promises availability come September with some models using a 10" screen whilst others in select countries being available with 9" screens, a range of different colours and Linux pre-load options.

It is said that initially the S10 will come in at $399 for a model running 512MB memory with an 80GB HDD and a jump up to $450 for one with 1GB memory and a 160GB HDD in black, red or white.

WHDI aims to make its place in end-users' hearts

HDMI is looking for its wireless successor and there is no shortage of suitors, according to this article from Engadget.

Wireless Home Digital Interface, which prefers to be known by its nickname, WHDI, appears to be pitting itself against its main competitor, WirelessHD, and the expected trials and tribulations in gaining widespread adoption, may shape the future of this wireless field.

Late last week Digitimes broke a story stating that NVIDIA were on the verge of quitting its chipset business. Soon after that story broke, we had the chance to speak to several of our contacts here in Taipei and the story was confirmed over and over again.

PowerColor add HDMI and Displayport to HD 4850

The lads at TechConnect have sighted some images of a fully decked out HD 4850 graphics card which comes equipped not only with a superior cooling solution but multiple connectivity options including DVI, HDMI and Displayport for future-proofing.

Featuring a red PCB and ZEROtherm's GX810 copper-happy cooler, the card is certainly quite the eye catcher, too. Whilst clock speeds and the amount of memory onboard isn't yet confirmed, it's likely that it sports the usual 512MB of RAM with a factory overclock thanks to the superior cooling on tap.
