Contrary to conflicting reports, AMD's eagerly anticipated HD 4870X2 will indeed ship with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, according to confirmation received by Fudzilla.

AMD's latest OverDrive Roadmap shows up
CHW.net has come through with the goods once again, this time sharing out updated details relating to AMD's OverDrive tool.
A roadmap reveals that a feature known as "Advanced Clock Calibration" has recently been added which various 790FX and GX chipsets support thanks to the SB750 Southbridge. You can learn more about this feature here.

NVIDIA decides to take up DX 10.1 challenge
Apparently, having taken the lack of DirectX 10.1 API support in its current GPU line-up to heart, sources of TG Daily have provided information, in the form of a presentation slide, indicating that NVIDIA plans to play 'catch-up' by, incorporating DirectX 10.1 support into its next generation GPUs.
Whilst TG Daily, honourably protecting the identity of their source, is unable to share the presentation slide in question, it is suggested that not only could NVIDIA's next generation desktop GPU solutions be enhanced with DirectX 10.1 support, but that also notebook solutions won't be left out in the cold.
On the desktop front, the successor to NVIDIA's GT200, is expected to see the light of day in late Q4 2008 or, within the first quarter of 2009, according to the report. NVIDIA's next generation notebook solution, on the other hand, is expected to launch next spring.

AMD's much praised RV770 GPU, a real turning point in the fortunes of the Sunnyvale, CA based company, finds itself alongside 1 GB of Qimonda 1.0 ns GDDR3 memory, according to the report and associated images.

Arctic Cooling unveil Accelero TWIN TURBO cooler
Swiss PC cooling specialist Arctic Cooling has just announced a new member to its highly popular Accelero Series of replacement cooling for graphics cards.
The new TWIN TURBO brings compatibility for the new ATI Radeon HD 4850/4870 graphics cards as well as NVIDIA's GeForce 9600GT/8800GT offerings and many others. Two whisper quiet 80mm PWM fans (connected to the VGA's existing fan header) are used on top of a large heatsink comprising four heat-pipes and 30 aluminum fins.
As a benchmark of its performance, Arctic Cooling state that a 34c drop in temperature can be seen when using the TWIN TURBO on a 9600GT that was previously running the reference cooler.

NVIDIA prepares price-cuts to answer AMD's RV770
With the HD 4800 series attributing largely to AMD's invigorated prospects, competitor NVIDIA isn't taking the predicament lying down, according to this report from Fudzilla.
Having underestimated the prowess of its competitor's RV770 GPU, the Santa Clara, CA based company is attempting to deflect the recent blows it has been dealt by AMD and thinks, that it has the answer.
Apparently, NVIDIA's GTX 260 and GTX 280 solutions could see $30 and $90, shaved off their respective price tags, however as the report surmises, the beneficiary of these price cuts, will most likely be NVIDIA's partners.
