DDRdrive X1 SSD hits 300,000 IOPs
If you have been around the computer scene for any length of time you might remember one of the first SSDs out. It was a product that used DDR RAM and ran through a normal SATA port.
DDRdrive LLC, has decided to revisit some of that older technology, but this time instead of using the SATA port they are using a PCI-e X1 connection and they are also using a combination of NAND and DDR Memory.
The new product, called DDRdrive X1 can hit an amazing 300,000+ IOPs and seems perfect for I/O intensive tasks. It is not the greatest performer in read/write speed though; as it can only hit a peak of 250 MB/s read and 150MB/s in writes.

Intel's Lynnfield To Be Useless The First Month
New information from the rumor mill says that Intel will be bringing Lynnfield CPU's to the market up to a full month before the matching, and required, chipset becomes available.
Why Intel would do this makes little sense to anyone, as the new processors will be worthless without the P55 chipset. Intel would surely have some good reasing behind doing such, as half of a platform does Intel no good at all.

XFX First To Use Premium Reference Cooler For 4770
Up until now, all of the Radeon HD 4770's have utilized ATI's cheaper reference cooler for the Radeon HD 4770. XFX will now be the first to shoot for the more expensive premium cooler.
For those that aren't aware, ATI offered partners two different designs for the cooler. All but XFX have chosen the cheaper design, probably to make the card more cost-effective for a card that doesn't make much money to begin with.

Intel's G55 iGPU Might Not Suck
Intel's has a bit of bad luck with their last three attemps at integrated graphics. This time around, they might just get it right.
Most know that the last three chips just didn't do so well. The G965, G35, and G45 all sucked and weren't much good beyond web browsing and typical office functionality.

Windows 7 Coming October 23rd
Micrsoft has been pretty vague as to when Windows 7 will hit the shelves, with information pointing at sometime between late 2009 and early 2010.
However Bobby Watkins, Acer's UK managing director, said, "23rd October is the date the Windows 7 will be available." He also said that there will be a 30 day upgrade period beforehand, allowing consumers to purchase computers leading up to the launch and get a free upgrade once Windows 7 is launched.
Adobe admits JavaScript flaw in Acrobat
I talked about the flaw that allowed Vista to fall in the Pwn2Own competition this year very briefly but I never did get into much detail. But since Adobe has admitted the flaw exists in another Adobe product it is worth bringing up again.
The issue is JavaScript and the way that Acrobat and Flash (the plug-in for Flash and Flash Player) handle it. They just do not do so very well at all. Because of this little problem arbitrary code can be executed by Malicious JavaScript (applets) on a system through these two 3rd party applications. It was this exact flaw in the way JavaScritpt is handled by Flash that allowed Vista to be hacked. It seems that in addition to poor handling it also allows the UAC feature in Vista to be bypassed for code executed by the plug-in and the application.
Adobe, although they have admitted to the flaw, has not given a time line for fixing the affected applications with include Acrobat (Reader as well) 9.1, 8.1.4, 7.1.1 and earlier.
