Have a Flip UltraHD but not too happy with the sound quality of your voice when you're practicing your on-scene news reports? Scosche's new freedomMIC takes advantage of the UltraHD's FlipPort, a proprietary connection that allows the Flip to use third party accessories, to add a wireless mic to your Flip.

The freedomMIC has a BlueTooth receiver that plugs into the bottom of the Flip UltraHD which wirelessly connects to the lavalier condensor mic. The mic has a range of 100 feet and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that promises about four hours of runtime. The mic also has noise-canceling properties to battle pesky background noise. Scosche is shooting for a December release of the freedomMIC with an expected price around $100 USD.

A Melbourne twit has flagged a Twitter vulnerability that let overnight attacks happen to Twitter users, which could have affected up to half a million users.

A cross-site scripting flaw used recently by RainbowTwtr was used in a copycat attack by Melbourne teen, Pearce Delphin.

RainbowTwtr's attack changed the profile backround picture to a rainbow colour and tweeted the script in an update. The code was quickly re-tweeted by hundreds of users.

It seems NVIDIA is gathering it's army for a bloody fight against AMD.

Tegra 2 is out the gate, which is surprising for NVIDIA's CEO Jen-Hsun Huang to casually note that Tegra 3 is nearly done and the work is starting on Tegra 4.

Not much was talked about with the chip itself and no parters were announced.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TMSC) might be showing off a glimpse of the future of chip manufacturing tech smaller than 20nm when it pulls back the curtain on it's latest research involving FinFET transistors at a chip industry event later this year.

Most existing products are built using planar transistors, invented in 1959 they are low-cost, efficient transistors. But, chip makers are now looking at other transistor design methods to shrink their die below 20nm, TMSC seems to heart the FinFET design because of their "fish-fin" design which reduces the size of working transistors.

TMSC will show off high performance 22nm and 20nm tech that features FinFET transistors at IEEE's International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM) which is happening on 6 - 8 December of this year in San Fransisco.

Next up we ran into an NVIDIA product manager chap from the Quadro Professional Business Graphics line who gave us an introduction to one of its demo systems showcasing very impressive real-time rendering of a Porsche.

Combined with a system running an NVIDIA Quadro 6000 workstation video card, software from RTT called DeltaGen and multi-touch screen technology from PQ Labs, we were shown a demo which is used by car designers in the industry to create their new and upcoming models that we know and love.

In this demo we see a real-time rendering of a Porsche vehicle (sorry, I'm not up to scratch Porsche car models... 10 points to the first person to tell us which it is!) and in the software as you can see in the video below you are able to adjust certain aspects of the scene, such as the color paint job of the car. In turn you can see how those changes affect other aspects of the scene such as shadows in what looks to be a very realistic manner.

Checking in with FourSquare is really neat and all, but what is it really worth beyond that? ChatSquare is looking to expand FourSquare functionality by allowing iPhone users to connect with other users in the same location.

ChatSquare links up with the FourSquare API to place you at your location and opens chatrooms and message boards for the location. Make new friends, comment on events, or laugh at someone's misfortune all without having to, you know, approach anyone or talk face to face. For Android handset users, Google released the Froyo 2.2 update a little while back now, but their Gmail team have been a bit slow with upgrading their Gmail e-mail App on the Android OS. There's now an update available in the Android Market for the new Gmail client.

There's a few features included, such as a new header at the top of a message, with buttons for "star, reply, reply all and forward" which means you no longer have to scroll to the bottom of the message to access those functions.

One feature (that I have waited for) is "show quoted text" to reveal the previous message. In the current Gmail app, you're required to try and press the previous message tab - which sometimes doesn't work as planned.

In this video she found Shoulin Chua from AMAX Information Technologies who gave us an introduction to one of its GPU Personal Supercomputers. It fits in a couple Intel Westmere Xeon processors along with four NVIIDA Telsa C2050 GPU processors. Each one of the C2050 cards has 448 cores, so if you do the math that gives us the system a huge total of 1792 cores of processing power. All of that amazing power on tap within a system chassis translates to a mega 4.12 Teraflops of performance or enough to do all sorts of simulations and supercomputing applications.

The cost for such a system comes in at about $10,000 USD. Nicole, just hand over that check book and bring a few home for us, will you?

The Blackberry tablet that has been the source of rumors and questions with no real substance could finally be officially seeing the light of day soon. According to the Wall Street Journal, RIM could be unveiling the long awaited device at their Developer Conference next week in San Francisco.

According to the source, the "BlackPad" will run on a QNX operating system with a Marvell powered chip. It will have WiFi connection only with tethering possible through a regular BlackBerry device, which means the tablet will not be tied to a carrier or a service contract. No prices have been thrown around yet, but with no possibility of a discount on contract you can expect to shell out a chunk of change for your BlackBerry's new best friend.

In this video she hunted down Jason Chen from Exxact Corporation who gave us an introduction of one of its high-end GPU workstations based around a couple Intel Westmere Xeon 5650 processors and a staggering four NVIDIA Tesla C2050 GPU computing processors which comes to over 1,700 cores when all counted up.

The system had a rendering benchmark from Tech-X which showcases the raw power of CPU versus GPU rendering. As you can see in the video above, on the left the CPU is drawing at around 1 FPS or so and on the right the GPU is drawing at around 65 FPS.
