Want to take a dive into the newly legalized jailbreaking of your Apple product but confused on where to start? Jailbreak Matrix has a roadmap to get you on your way to the joys of jailbreaking.

Jailbreak Matrix has posted a huge chart covering the iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad and all of the possible firmware for each. Android 2.2 update for EVO 4G possibly coming as early as tomorrow

By: Don Lynn | Mobile Devices | Posted: Jul 29, 2010 @ 23:29 CDT

It was reported yesterday that the Android 2.2 "Froyo" update would be rolling out of HTC today, and that may have been exactly what happened. According to some internal Sprint communication peeked at by Engadget, the Froyo update for the EVO 4G Froyo update may be download ready as early as tomorrow.

The upgrade coming to the EVO seems to have a lot more to offer than the expected Froyo releases, as new widgets, 720p ligh assisted video, video capture improvement, and a flashlight mode for the LED flash are on the table as well. While this update may shutdown the hack that allows your EVO to act as a free mobile hotspot, the upgrades would seem to be worth it. More tomorrow when/if the download comes available.

Canadian iPhone 4 info finally out ahead of tomorrow's launch

By: Don Lynn | Mobile Devices | Posted: Jul 29, 2010 @ 20:36 CDT

While it's been known that the iPhone 4 is launching in Canada, among other countries, tomorrow the details on plans have been sketchy. With only a few hours to go, plans have finally come unveiled from Rogers; the first carrier bringing the iPhone 4.

First off, the Canadian iPhone 4 will be hitting shelves at a lower price that it came to the U.S.; $159 for the 16GB and $269 for the 32GB, although Rogers requires a three year contract for that price. Their $30 plan for 6GB of data is back, and for an extra $20 you can share that data between your iPad and your new iPhone. Bell's iPad sharing plan is rumored to be only $10. So get ready to line up, everyone; and don't forget to ask about your free bumper or case.

RIM grabs ";" tablet rumors begin anew

By: Don Lynn | Mobile Devices | Posted: Jul 29, 2010 @ 20:15 CDT

Following in the footsteps of HP trademarking "PalmPad" for their expected new tablet, RIM has purchased the domain name "" in a move that is starting more chatter about the rumored Blackberry tablet that RIM has still not leaked a whole lot about to this point.

The tipoff came from someone doing a WHOIS search on a domain sating that RIM purchased the name only a few days ago. The domain has been owned by quite a few people since 2002, so RIM had to go and find the owner and take it off their hands. Whether it's the pre-production codename or what we'll see on retail packaging, the folks at Blackberry are making sure they've got this little marketing tool in their pocket.

Ten minutes wasn't long enough to show off your Final Fantasy play through or mad breakdancing skills on YouTube? You've now got an extra five minutes worth of video time now. YouTube announced today that the upload limit had been extended from the very familiar ten minutes to fifteen minutes.

Following through on the most requested feature on the video upload size, Youtube credits its "Content ID" copyright violation removal technology for the ability to increase the limit. Joshua Siegel, YouTube product manager for upload and video management, stated in his blog post announcing the change: "Because of the success of these ongoing technological efforts, we are able to increase the upload limit today."

Custom steampunk flash drive is actually for sale

By: Shane McGlaun | Storage | Posted: Jul 29, 2010 @ 13:10 CDT

I am not a huge fan of steampunk. I like the attention to detail that I see in some of the products and the overall cool factor. I would never use a steampunk product though, I like my tech to look high tech.

If you like steampunk gear, but aren't able to build your own you can buy this interesting steampunk flash drive. The drive is made from real wood along with lots of brass and a small gauge.
