TI unveils a pair of new Sitara ARM APUs

When it comes to mobile devices of all sorts a bunch of them are powered by ARM-based processors. Texas Instruments has announced pair of new ARM Cortex A8 Sitara APUs today.

The APUs operate at 1GHz and promise almost a 40% performance increase compared to previous Sitara APUs. At the same time performance increases, the power consumption of the new APUs drops by up to 30%.

Maingear unveils new Quick Ship PCs

It has been many years since I purchased a pre-built PC for myself. I have built my own for years now. I did help my dad order a basic computer a year or so back and it seemed like it took forever to get here. When an enthusiast orders a PC that is customized the wait can stretch into weeks.

Maingear has announced three new PCs that come in Quick Ship varieties. The machines include the X-cube, the Vybe, and the F131. The Vybe can be had with Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 CPUs, up to 2TB of storage and up to 8GB of RAM starting at $1099. The Vybe can be ordered with ATI HD graphics, AMD Phenom II X6, and more. The machine starts at up to $798.

DirecTV unveils Whole Home DVR

Ask a bunch of technology users what the most indispensible piece of home theater tech in their home is and most will say the DVR. The DVR is the one device in my home theater I won't live without.

DirecTV has announced a new Whole Home DVR solution that allows you to watch programs recorded on a single DVR in up to 15 different rooms. The DVR solution will shoot recorded video to any connected TV and each TV can control the playlist and manage recordings.

Nintendo 3DS more powerful than Wii?

E3 is just around the corner and Nintendo has been saying or a while now that it will unveil the 3DS at the show officially and offer up more details on pricing and specs. The machine is very anticipated and thought to be landing on the market in time for Christmas.

IGN has offered up a list of everything that it knows about the 3DS. Much of it is stuff we already heard like a 3D screen that needs no glasses. However, the publication has talked to several developers who have stated that the device is more powerful than the Wii.

Sony unveils new VAIO AIO and notebooks

Sony has pulled the wraps off some new computers today in the VAIO E and J series. The E series are notebooks and the J Series are AIO machines for media fans. The E Notebook line gets new EA series with 14-inch screen, bright colors, Intel wireless display tech, and Core i5-540M CPUs along with up to 500GB of storage, 8GB of RAM, and optional Blu-ray.

The VIAO EB notebook has the same specs but gets a larger 15.5-inch screen. The new EC model is a much larger 17.3-inch screen. The machine has some serious options like a video card with 1GB of graphics memory. Other options for the machine include a Core i5-540M CPU and up to 8GB of RAM.

E3 around the corner - Crysis 2, F.E.A.R. 3 and Red Faction 4 trailers online

With Computex 2010 behind us, gamers in particular now have something to get excited about. E3 is just around the corner, set to kick off at the Los Angeles Convention Center on June 15 through 17.

 

With this, game developers have been rushing to get current projects polished off enough to impress the crowds with pre-release demos of their next big hits. This means trailers and teasers are starting to show up on the web now, too.

Acer announces Aspire One 533 netbook

Acer has just officially released its Aspire One 533 netbook to market; another Intel NM10 powered unit with GMA 3150 IGP and choice of Atom N455/N475 (1.66GHz/1.83GHz) processor.

This 10.1-inch (1024x600) netbook is around about 25mm thick, weighing in at 1Kg. It has a 93% standard sized keyboard along with multi-gesture touchpad and comes in three glossy colours' black, red or white.
