App Store now includes "Try before you Buy"

If you haven't been poking around Apple's App Store lately, you may not have noticed the new section: Try Before You Buy." The App Store now has a section where you can download free demo versions of premium apps before you lay down the money for them.

This isn't quite as good as Google's 24 hour return policy on apps from the Android Market, but it's definitely a step in the right direction to avoid app buyer's remorse. Check it out under "Features" then "Free in the App Store."

Europe states Micro-USB will be standard for their smartphone charging in January 2011

Have you ever had your phone die either on the road with a friend or at their house, oly to realize they don't have a charger that works with your phone? It's happened to me more than once, and I've always wondered why there couldn't just be a standard connection over all cell phones. Well, the forward thinkers in the European Commission have heard these same outcries, and are set to make micro-USB the standard for smartphones and data-enabled phones starting in January 2011.

CEO of HP resigns amidst sexual harassment allegations

Mark Hurd, the CEO of Hewlett Packard (HP), has resigned from his position today after a marketing consultant for the company accused him of sexual harassment. The Board of Directors of HP launched an independent investigation of the accusations on June 29th after a letter was sent to outside legal counsel about the incident.

August 12th confirmed for Droid 2 launch at Best Buy

The date going around the rumor mill for the launch of the highly anticipated Droid 2 has been August 12th. Now it seems that date has become official, at least for Best Buy stores. The folks at Engadget got a hold of a screenshot from the "inside" at Best Buy confirming the date.

The most powerful Droid phone to date with a beefier core, Wireless N and mobile hotspot connectivity have been on the wishlist for Droid fans for quite a while, and now it looks like it's only about a week away. Expect "Sold Out" reports to be coming around this time next week.

Dish Network unveils new DVR scheduler app for iPad

There have been DVR scheduler apps out for several smartphones for a while now and the apps are pretty cool. You can use them to control recordings on your DVR at home from anywhere.

Dish Network has now announced new DVR scheduler application that is claimed to be the first specifically optimized for the iPad. The app gives the user full control over their DVR and works with multiple DVRs in the same home.

V-Moda unveils new Crossfade LP headphone colors

Flash Rods flash drives are made from toy cars

I am both a computer geek and a car guy at the same time. It's not often that I can run across a product that reconciles both my favorite things into one product. The Flash Rods do just that though.

These flash drives each have 4GB of storage and that storage is crammed inside an off the shelf Hot Wheels style car. Each of the drives is made by hand and you can get just about any car you can think of.

TPG makes a big mistake in email to customers today

TPG made a big boo boo today when it accidently revealed hundreds of its business customers e-mail addresses in a billing e-mail that was sent out today.

 

ZDNet Australia was given the heads up about the error from several of TPG's business customers earlier this afternoon which expressed concern over privacy breaching.

The e-mail sighted by ZDNet appears to have been sent out to 500 addresses simply advising their business customers that their bill was ready for viewing.

 

TPG is yet to respond in relation to this error.
