Computex 2005 Coverage - Booth Babes of Computex 2005

Meet the beauties of Computex 2005...Shuttle had the nicest looking girl by a long way and if we were reviewing her here on TweakTown she'd definitely be awarded "Editor's Choice". | Jun 2, 2005 at 11:00 pm CDT

Computex 2005 Coverage - nVidia G70 Spy Shots

Today during Computex 2005 we managed to find one of nVidia's very scarce upcoming codename G70 graphics cards. We only had a short while with the card and we were told that the card was not a working sample. | Jun 2, 2005 at 11:00 pm CDT

Computex 2005 Coverage - Day 3: ASUS HQ Visit and more from the show floor

Computex 2005 Coverage - Day 3: ASUS HQ Visit and more from the show floor

As the above image attests, it's been a hectic week for us here at Computex '05. From the plethora of company parties with unlimited bar tabs, to our meetings that begin at 9am each morning, we haven't had much sleep. But the show must go on, and today, while being fairly uneventful compared to the past few days, was quite interesting. Again, home theatre products are huge at this year's show, and most vendors we visited today had some sort of SFF PC on display. In the morning we visited a number of booths - Iwill, Foxconn, FIC, SiS and Scythe - and in the afternoon we visited ASUS' Taiwan headquarters for a short tour. | Jun 1, 2005 at 11:00 pm CDT

Computex 2005 Coverage - Operation Computex Insider

Computex 2005 Coverage - Operation Computex Insider

As a foreigner in Taipei, you tend to get away with a lot more than you would when you're back home. Some of the looks you get from the locals in Taiwan are quite priceless, like the chap in the photo above. He's super suspicious of us and probably rightfully so as just this afternoon, the day before Computex 2005 officially kicks off, we made our away down to the World Trade Center area which is the location for the big IT show each year. Our intention was to find some tasty spy shots, hence the "Operation Computex Insider" title. | May 29, 2005 at 11:00 pm CDT

Computex 2005 Coverage - Ranting: Marketing Mishaps

Computex 2005 Coverage - Ranting: Marketing Mishaps

It's baffling to consider how third-party board vendors stay in business whilst producing virtually homogenous products. Whether its graphics cards or motherboards, the quest for market dominance has become a donkey race whereby vendors attempt to differentiate their products from the competition through intangible, colourless means concocted by their marketing departments. | May 29, 2005 at 11:00 pm CDT

Computex 2005 Coverage - ATI Multi VPU rumors

Computex 2005 Coverage - ATI Multi VPU rumors

We caught up with the main man from ATI in Taiwan yesterday afternoon here in Australia who is in charge of the Asian and Oceania regions. Naturally we'll meet with ATI several times during the week long Computex show to find out the latest but we couldn't resist in finding out the latest details on ATI's upcoming Multi VPU (or MVPU as it will be known) a little earlier. | May 20, 2005 at 11:00 pm CDT

Computex 2003 Coverage - Pre Coverage with No Hardware!

Computex 2003 Coverage - Pre Coverage with No Hardware!

Fighting away concerns of SARS, Computex Taipei 2003 was delayed from its original date in June and starts tomorrow with full force. We are also here in force and thought it might be interesting to have a look at the surroundings of Computex instead of only focusing on the hardware side of things. Read on as Cameron "Mr.Tweak" Wilmot takes us on a quick tour of Taipei, Taiwan in the Computex area. | Sep 20, 2003 at 11:00 pm CDT

Computex 2002 Coverage - Abit Editor's Night

Computex 2002 Coverage - Abit Editor's Night

As mentioned in our Day 4 coverage of Computex, last night Cameron and I, along with many other editors headed up to Abit HQ for Abit's "Editor's Night". The night was in the theme of the FIFA World Cup that is currently taking place in Korea and thus, soccer balls and posters were plastered everywhere - Even Abit staff were wearing Abit football jerseys. We were given a tour of Abit's R&D facilities, had the chance to chat with Abit engineers and then spent the rest of the night fragging each other in Jedi Knight 2 and Quake 3 Arena. Read on as Asher "Acid" Moses reveals exactly what we got up to at Abit HQ. | Jun 6, 2002 at 11:00 pm CDT

Computex 2002 Coverage - Day 4

Computex 2002 Coverage - Day 4

After three action-packed days, things have finally started to quieten down here at Computex. Our first three days were filled with press conferences, meetings, parties and then a good 4-5 hours each day has been spent on preparing our daily coverage. Most of this year's Computex announcements have been made by now and for the last two days of the show, Cameron and I will be wandering the show floor in search of some new and interesting products to show you. Today we visited Intel, Lian-Li, DFI, ABIT, Kingmax and nVidia, and boy do we have some interesting things to show you. We have information on the upcoming nForce II chipset, nVidia's next generation architecture - the NV30, Lian-Li's new aluminium case range and pictures of the first working ClawHammer sample. | Jun 5, 2002 at 11:00 pm CDT

Computex 2002 Coverage - Day 3

Computex 2002 Coverage - Day 3

Day 3 of Computex has been and gone, and what a day it was. Most of our day was spent in Hall 3 of Computex, which is populated mainly by motherboard manufacturers such as Shuttle, EPoX, MSI, Iwill, Asus, Gigabyte and many more. Many of these motherboard manufacturers were displaying Hammer solutions, KT400 solutions and even nForce solutions. We also got the chance to check out other neat stuff such as Serial ATA and new barebones systems from Shuttle and ASUS. Day 3 at Computex can be best described as "motherboard day" for TweakTown, and after it was all over, we were pretty impressed. | Jun 4, 2002 at 11:00 pm CDT

Computex 2002 Coverage - Kingmax Interview

Computex 2002 Coverage - Kingmax Interview

One of our scheduled meetings this year for Computex 2002 included an exclusive English media interview with Joe Liu, President of Kingmax Semiconductor. In our relatively short, but interesting, interview earlier today at the Kingmax booth from Hall 1 I ask Joe Liu about DDR-II, release dates of future memory products, whether or not they will eneter the VGA card business and if the Taiwanese company would support Intel's PC1066 standards which included how Intel "encouraged" Kingmax to produce PC1066 RDRAM. | Jun 3, 2002 at 11:00 pm CDT

Computex 2002 Coverage - Day 2

Computex 2002 Coverage - Day 2

Computex is certainly shaping up to be a very exciting event. In yesterday's coverage we brought you information about AMD's 8th generation processors (Opteron and ClawHammer) as well as detailed information about upcoming products from VIA. Yesterday's conferences left us barely any time to take a proper look at what the companies were displaying on the show floor. Today, however, our schedule was slightly more relaxed so we took the opportunity to head out onto the show floor. Whilst there we took a look at the latest gear from VIA, ALi, SiS, Apacer, AMD and Leadtek. | Jun 3, 2002 at 11:00 pm CDT

ITExpo 2002 Coverage

ITExpo 2002 Coverage

Recently we had the chance to visit one of Australia's largest computer exhibitions, ITExpo. Unfortunately, being located in Australia means that our computer exhibitions don't get visited by the likes of Bill Gates or Craig Barret, and many of the products displayed are not ground breakingly new. Nevertheless, it is usually a great day out and there are always one or two surprises. Join Asher "Acid" Moses as he determines if ITExpo has got what it takes to compete with the likes of Taiwan's Computex and USA's COMDEX. | Mar 7, 2002 at 11:00 pm CST
