Gigabyte Radeon X800PRO and X800XT PE Compared

By Shawn Baker from Aug 8, 2004 @ 23:00 CDT

While both cards look similar you can clearly see that the performance is difference truly there both cards. There is no denying that everyone is going to want an X800XT PE but with the memory shortage just announced on DDR 3 you might have to wait a little while. And looking at Deal Time, our price comparison tool, you can see the XT PE is going to cost you a good deal more than the PRO - around the $100 USD mark more depending on where you look.

The X800XT PE would have to be the absolute best package we have seen so far from a graphics card. As we mentioned we receive 10 CDs with the X800XT PE package and there is a number of excellent games that we are sure people won't throw aside like we usually do with most packages.

The X800PRO is also an excellent card but it really doesn't change all that much from the other packages we have seen except for the inclusion of maybe the extra game (2 instead of the 1 we get with others). While we haven't got a price on the Gigabyte X800XT PE, if it is only slightly more expensive then other X800XT PE it is going to be excellent value thanks to the massive amount of games that comes included within the package.

- Pros

Best X800 package we have seen (X800XT PE)

Good overclocking performance

Cooler with blue LED

Expected performance numbers

- Cons

X800XT PE shortage (not Gigabyte's fault)

Massive box could make shipping more expensive
