Features of the Abit Siluro Ti4200

- Package Contents

Upon opening the box you are greeted with a driver CD, detailed User's Manual, DVI-to-VGA converter, TV-out cables, an S-Video extension cable, a Composite extension cable and a S-Video/Composite adapter. So basically, Abit include everything you need to make full use of your GeForce4's added features straight out of the box.

If an extravagant software bundle is what you are after, the Abit Ti4200 is not the card for you. No games are bundled with the card, and the only piece of software available is Abit's own DVD playback software, SiluroDVD. While this is not a big issue for me as I would certainly rather purchase a card that lacks free software (which I would most likely already own), if it means the card will be priced cheaper. Of course, opinions regarding this matter will vary from person to person.

- The Card

Abit have decided on a silver/blue colour scheme for the Siluro Ti4200. It features an attractive blue PCB with a shiny silver heatsink/fan unit cooling the NV25 GPU. Like all Ti4200 cards currently on the market, the Siluro Ti4200 features a core clock speed of 250MHz and a memory clock speed of 500MHz. The card also features 64MB Hynix DDR memory rated at 4ns. Something that is quite unusual for Abit is that there were no heatsinks attached to the memory chips. Abit obviously felt that the memory already ran cool enough and the lack of memory heatsinks also means a lower priced card.

The Siluro Ti4200 supports TV-out through a Phillips SAA7108E controller. Many graphics card manufacturers have been using the Phillips controller on their cards for some time now and it is regarded by many as one of the best on the market. For those that own digital LCD displays, the card also features DVI-out, supporting a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 at 60Hz.
