3DMark05 is now the second latest version in the popular 3DMark "Gamers Benchmark" series. It includes a complete set of DX9 benchmarks, which tests Shader Model 2.0 and higher.

Beginning with some synthetic benchmarks, we see a drastic improvement. While not nearly as graphics card biased as the previous version of the utility, it still shows a dramatic difference in performance levels. For those not wanting to work the numbers, we're looking at a 60% increase in score at 1024x768 and a 64% increase when running at 1280x1024. This is beginning to look very promising!
