While the package isn’t exactly complicated, it is really nice looking – it’s simple with the black and silver, tells us what it is almost and has the nVidia and SLI logo on it. When we say almost tells us what it is, we mean the fact that it doesn’t say it’s a 512MB or 256MB card. This was an early sample though and we have no doubt that the full package will state the size as this one has no model number or anything on the outside.
Turning over to the back of the box there isn’t anything out of the ordinary. Extended specifications on what the graphics card has to offer and also has a small marking of what power supply is recommended for a card of this statue.
When you slide off the outer layer of the box you come to the actual box the card sits in and find Galaxy written in nice big silver letters on the front.
While we wouldn’t normally take a picture of the inside of the box we had to this time due to the excellent packaging job. Considering the card is shipped half way around the world its nice to know that it is secularly packaged and this is one of the best packaging jobs we have seen on a graphics card in a long time including some of the more expensive ones.
Moving to the inside of the box finally this is where we found ourselves with what is the cheapest 7800GTX 512MB card on the market. Cable wise there is the normal ones we expect - DVI to VGA dongle, PCI E power connector, VIVO cable, Component out cable and an S-Video cable.
Moving to the paper work and CDs we don’t get anything more then a quick install guide, user manual and driver CD. Adding the games is where it begins to add up when selling a card, there is no denying though that a lot of people out there don’t want or need the games as they purchase their own which are usually better then the ones bundled.
The packaging is great but the package is light but is this a problem? For some people they do want the games, the extra bits of software some companies go as far to including extra little funky things like a T-Shirt and mouse skatez like found in the BFG Tech package but on the other hand there are people who just want to own what is the best graphics card around.
