The Package

HIS have put together a nice bundle to fully support all the card’s features, these include:

- Video cables: S-Video, S-Video to composite video converter, S-Video to YPbPr component video
- DVI to VGA adaptor
- Software: Dungeon Siege (full version), Cyberlink PowerDirector 3 SE Plus, Cyberlink Power2Go 4 and 3D Album PicturePro
- Vent face plate
- Manual
- HIS X700 (of course!)

The bundle contents demonstrate a balanced approach to the card’s target audience. Dedicated graphics cards, regardless of their chipset or position in the market pecking order, tend to make very good bases for home theatre systems, and in such cases HDTV support is a huge plus. The included cables lets the HIS X700 step into such a role straight away. The software bundle gets you up and running straight away with both gaming and video editing, and the DVI converter lets you run the card in dual-head VGA mode or split VGA/DVI mode which is great for power workstations. Unfortunately, ATI’s dual-head software – HydraVision – is truly awful, and if you want to run in this mode then consider purchasing a third-party tool like Ultramon.
