GeCube Radeon X800GTO - Another new VPU from ATI - Benchmarks - High Quality AA and AF

The folks out at ATI's headquarters in Canada have been busy little beavers and things aren't set to stop anytime soon. Only recently we saw the release of the Radeon X800GT which goes up against the GeForce 6600GT and today ATI's are releasing another new PCI Express VPU called Radeon X800GTO which is designed to go up against the GeForce 6800 standard, among others. Read on as we take a close look at GeCube's version of the X800GTO which is pitted against the X800GT.

High Quality AA and AF

In our High Quality tests we bump the Antialiasing (AA) and Anisotropic Filtering (AF) up causing the card(s) to be put under more load which usually helps us remove the CPU limitation.

We're using 4 x AA and 8 x AF as this is quite a common setup for most people who are venturing into the AA and AF area.

Our high quality test shows the X800GT get extremely far behind the X800GTO.

Even at 1600 x 1200 and 4xAA/8xAF, the X800GTO is able to offer a playable experience while the X800GT you can see clearly suffer.

While the X800GT offers an extremely unplayable environment the X800GTO offers a very borderline one. With a drop to 1280 x 1024 we would be able to utilize AA and AF with a smooth frame rate on the X800GTO.
