3DMark05 is the latest version in the popular 3DMark "Gamers Benchmark" series. It includes a complete set of DX9 benchmarks which tests Shader Model 2.0 and higher.

At the lower resolution we can see that the 512MB card gets a big jump on the 256MB offering with the higher resolution giving us only a 40 point difference, which is nothing.

 

 

When we turn on AA and AF we can see that 1024 x 768 gives us a slight increase but it's not until we move to 1600 x 1200 where the 512MB card stands out over the 256MB model with a lead of almost 250 points.
