GeCube X800XL 512MB Graphics Card - 256MB vs. 512MB

TweakTown Rating: 8.5%Manufacturer: GeCube

The Card

GeCube's Uni-Wise cooling solution stands out extremely well and cools both the GPU and the memory. The Uni-Wise cooling solution works by speeding up and down depending on the amount of load the card is under.

When you're sitting under Windows typing in Word or checking your email, the card sits at an extremely quite dB rating of 20. When you start playing your favorite game, the fan speeds up to around 30dB which is still exceptionally quite. You will probably find yourself not hearing it as by this time you have got gun bullets whizzing past you and the extra few dB from your graphics card is a distant second to the noise in the room.

Flipping the card over we can see we have a back plate that not only helps hold on the cooler but also cool the rear memory. Thanks to the inclusion of 512MB of memory we have not only modules on the front of the card but also the rear of it and it is important to cool memory on both sides of the card, not just one like we see all too often.

Hidden under the heat plate we also have the Rage Theater chip which gives us support for VIVO, as we mentioned earlier.

The IO plate sports support for Dual DVI out and has a little plug so we can utilize both HDTV out along with Video in and Video out. How to utilize all these features can be found on the back of the box as we looked at earlier.
