Introduction

ATI’s Radeon X700 is one of ATI’s more popular graphics cards thanks to the cheap price tag and relatively good performance. While it isn’t the fastest graphics core around, it is a great card for people working with a budget. We had a look at the X700 in its AGP variant the other week in our AGP roundup and it performed quite well. Today we will be having a look at a number of different brands PCI Express graphics cards – in fact, a total of 11 from 8 different companies… hence the monster connotation in the title.

Not only will we be looking at the different brands we will also be having a look at a number of different variants of the X700. We will be looking at 128MB and 256MB cards, Pro and non Pro. We will go through our normal round up procedure looking at all the cards we have separately and do a bit of benchmarking… and then a bit more benchmarking to find out which offers the best gaming performance.

We’ve covered just about every X700 graphics card from ATI’s partners which we could think of (Ed. Note – At least every company who could be bothered sending us a sample to include) – so let’s get started and work out which one is the best for your dollars!
