Introduction

Vantec has been around for some time now. While many of us remember the days when they were mainly a heatsink manufacturer, they have branched out in several directions since then. Whether you’re looking for cooling, power supplies, rheostat devices, lighting, or even external drive capabilities, Vantec has something to offer you.

Today’s subject will be power; namely, their newest offering to the PSU arena... the ION2. With newer power supplies becoming more efficient, Vantec has modernized their primary PSU and brought it up to current standards. We’ll be taking a look at the numbers later on, but we’ll also look into some of the other features offered besides just power levels.

So sit back for a few moments and we’ll take a look at the latest offering from Vantec. We’ll compare it with some other modern units as well as the original ION and see if they have brought anything new to the table.
