Gigabyte GeForce 7800 GTX - Our first retail offering - Benchmarks - Test System Setup & 3DMark Series

Hot on the heels of nVidia's GeForce 7800 GTX graphics card launch last week, we've already received Gigabyte's retail offering which is being shipped into the market around the world. We will be having a look at what Gigabyte are offering the public with the first retail 7800 GTX that we have seen. We will also be looking at if these cards offer us any extra performance over our reference cards that we looked at last week.

We will be comparing the reference 7800 GTXs against Gigabyte's cards. We have removed Battlefield 2 for the moment due to some extremely weird issues. We will be looking back into it and hoping to re-add it to our suite again over the next few reviews.

As we mentioned the cards do use the same speeds as the reference cards we looked at last week so we are not expecting any real difference amongst the cards. Let's get a move on and find out how our retail cards compare against the reference version.

3DMark03 is the latest version of the highly favored 3DMark series. By combining full DirectX9.0 support with completely new tests and graphics, 3DMark03 continues the legacy of being industry standard benchmark.

Please Note: Due to recent events with the 3DMark03 series, we are adding results purely for those who are still in favor of 3DMark03. These results should not be taken too seriously and are only added for interest sakes.

Just as we expected, we see no difference between the cards at both resolutions with the only difference being the fluctuation.

3DMark05

Version and / or Patch Used: Build 110

3DMark05 is the latest version in the popular 3DMark "Gamers Benchmark" series. It includes a complete set of DX9 benchmarks which tests Shader Model 2.0 and higher.

For more information on the 3DMark05 benchmark, we recommend you read our preview here.

Again we see no difference in performance; we think it's safe to say that these kinds of results will follow all the way through.

How much does it cost me?
