Today we take a close look at the HIS X700Pro IceQ Turbo including the impressive overclocking ability close to that of the Radeon X700XT which uses the new PCI Express interface and compare it against the older ATI Radeon X600XT VPU and see what is different and how it affects gaming performance in popular games such as HL2, Doom 3 and Far Cry.

All tests were run with 6 times FSAA and 8 times Antistrophic Filtering enabled with the screen resolution set to 1024 X 768.

 

When running these aggressive detail settings in 1600 x 1200, games really do become unplayable and if people are after image quality they will have to drop the resolution back down to reach playable levels.

 

1024x768 was chosen as it is still the preferred playable resolution with these settings enabled.

 

 

Under HL2 with some AA and AF enabled to make things look even nicer, we can see that the overclocked HIS X700 Pro gives us a good 10 frame per second jump in performance making the game more playable.

 

 

Under 3DMark05 we see a healthy jump of 500 points from the overclocked HIS X700 Pro with the X600XT still wondering what the heck has hit it.

 

 

While frames are a little slower here, the overclocked version of the HIS X700 Pro makes things a little more playable here.
