OCZ Vertex 460 120GB SSD Review - Benchmarks - AIDA64 Random Access Time

OCZ Vertex 460 120GB SSD Review

OCZ's Barefoot 3 controller has a history of performing very well in lower capacity sizes, so we wanted to get in the other capacity sizes to test. (TYO:6502)

AIDA64 offers several different benchmarks for testing and optimizing your system or network. The Random Access test is one of very few, if not the only, that will measure hard drives' random access times in hundredths of milliseconds as opposed to tens of milliseconds.

Drives with only one or two tests displayed in the write test mean that they have failed the test and their Maximum and possibly their Average Scores were very high after the cache fills. This usually happens only with controllers manufactured by Jmicron.

Barefoot 3 performs very well in read and write access tests. The Vertex 460 release firmware is faster than the Vector 150's release firmware, but OCZ has moved to firmware 2.0 for the Vector 150. We haven't tested the new firmware for the Vector 150, so, in some situations, the Vertex 460 will be a little faster.

We see the firmware difference on both the read and write access tests where the Vector 460 does a little better.
