Introduction

When it comes to graphics boards, not everyone can afford to shell out US$500 or more for a top of the line card. Some might think that leaves those average gamers out in the cold, but this doesn't hold true. There are some solid mid-level performers available and the Radeon 9600XT is one that seems to be garnering a lot of attention lately. With a price tag in the US$200 area and some very workable performance numbers, this seems to be a lot more reasonable than the high-octane alternatives.

Enter Sapphire Technologies. They have been creating some solid video cards for a while now and can many times be found a good deal cheaper than others with the same features. Though most noted for their "Ultimate Edition" line of silent video cards, we will take a look at a more traditional version today and see if they can keep up with their competitors, and more importantly, if they can still do so at a lesser price.

So sit back as we peek in at some of the performance numbers to see if Sapphire is keeping up with the reputation they have made for themselves!
