Thermaltake Golden Orb

By: TweakTown Staff | CPU Air Coolers in Cases, Cooling & PSU | Posted: Jul 11, 2001 4:00 am
TweakTown Rating: 8.0%Manufacturer: Thermaltake

Testing To test the cooling performance of the Golden Orb we compared it too the Alpha PEP66, Alpha PAL35t and the excellent GlobalWin FKP32... We did a couple cycles of Quake 3 Arena demo001 with each cooler and measured the temperature using a thermistor probe (which is on our MSI BxMaster motherboard), temperatures were recorded using Hardware Sensors Monitor and results were presented using Microsoft Excel...

1 = Alpha PEP66 (24 Degrees Celsius) 2 = Alpha PAL35t (22.5 Degrees Celsius) 3 = GlobalWin FKP32 (20.5 Degrees Celsius) 4 = Golden Orb (21 Degrees Celsius) Even though the Golden Orb was beaten by 0.5 Degrees Celsius by the all mighty GlobalWin FKP32 we can still safely say the Golden Orb is a very strong competitor against all the latest socket 370 heatsinks. I don't mind the 0.5 Degrees C difference, this thing is just plain sexy! - Pros: Innovation excellence, solid performer, excellent value for money. - Cons: Too sexy?? Conclusion Our excellent sponsors the CoolerGuysstock the Golden Orb for $16.95 USD, at this price YOU CANNOT GO WRONG - This is one of the best socket 370 FCPGA coolers we have tested. I'll be using this cooler in my personal system for a while to come... Rating - 8/10
