It's often hard to find a motherboard which offers great performance at an affordable price. It carries all the same features as the high-end Intel Canterwood chipset besides PAT which offers increased memory performance. Does PAT make any real world difference? Introduction

It was only the other day we looked at the biggest and meanest chipset from Intel in the shape of the DFI Canterwood LANPARTY PRO875. Today we are going to have a look at its younger and less fierce brother in the shape of Soltek's Springdale SL-86SPE-L. Recently Soltek has released a more colorful motherboard to the market which is entirely purple and while we don't have that particular motherboard today we have the silver alternative which looks equally as impressive.

The Soltek SL-86SPE-L as mentioned is based on the Springdale chipset from Intel and is very similar to the Canterwood except the support for Performance Acceleration Technology other wise known as PAT isn't included. We will have a look later on what this does for the motherboard and if it's worth the price difference or not.
