VIA PT800 Chipset - Single Channel taken to the Max - Benchmarks - Code Creatures

Over the past 18 months VIA Technology has been hindered by an on-going court case with Intel over Pentium 4 licensing rights. This week VIA released their new PT800 single channel, fully licensed, Pentium 4 chipset. Follow Shawn "Toxic" Baker as he tells us all about it and if it can keep pace with Intel's dual channel monsters, Canterwood and Springdale!

Code Creatures

Code Creatures is a Synthetic benchmark based on Direct X 8 which gives users the chance to see another highly involved benchmark program. Focusing on 2 elements Grass and Water video cards are stressed to the limit resulting in quite low scoring benchmarks. Users get to see a more intensive side of DirectX 8 thanks to the engine behind Code Creatures.

- Grass

The PT800 again is only trailing by 10%.

- Water

We see the small 10% win again which only equates to a very small 3 FPS difference. Moving away from the synthetics, we will see how it goes in all important real world gaming.
