Conclusion

I had expected to see very good results from this drive from the very beginning. While I had never tested one of these units, you can't do any real tweaking without at least hearing what is good out there. IBM has always ranked very high in terms of both performance and overall reliability in the HDD market. After actually getting my hands dirty and testing it, I can now see where all the hype is coming from. It is by far the fastest drive that I have used to date.

High speed transfers, ATA-100 interface, 7200-RPM spindle speeds, and the list goes on. These are the things that make a good hard drive excellent. And when you also get the outstanding performance that comes with all IBM Deskstar drives, well...you just have a winner from the very beginning.

Bottom line...If you are in the market for a drive that is quiet, fast, and reliable, get this drive right now. You will be very pleased with all the fine qualities that it possesses.
