Introduction

Put simply, a mouse pad is the piece of material that you glide your mouse over when using the computer. Before FPS (First Person Shooter) games such as Quake III Arena and Counter-Strike became popular, many users did not care about the type of mousepad they used, nor what it looked like. In today's FPS games, however, precision, accuracy and rapid movements are the key to success. You have to be able to easily slide the mouse across the mousing surface without any hindrance so you can aim where you want to, when you want to. Sure, the type of mouse you use also has a lot to do with how well you play games, but this means nothing if you don't have a decent mouse pad.

A US based company called Everglide was one of the first to notice the demand for a quality mouse pad and decided to produce a range of pads that catered specifically for gamers. Recently, Everglide has added five more pads to their already extensive range, aptly named Optical. This range comprises of the Attack Pad Optical Clear, Giganta Optical Clear, Attack Pad Optical Smoke, Giganta Optical Smoke, and the "Optica".

Are these new pads simply a way of milking more money out of the gaming market or can Everglide continue their innovative streak? Read on to find out!
