MSI 845E Max2 BLR I845E Motherboard Review

By: Cameron Johnson | Socket LGA 775 in Motherboards | Posted: Jul 15, 2002 4:00 am
TweakTown Rating: 8.5%Manufacturer: MSI

The 845E Max2 is a step forward for MSI in their quest for the ultimate motherboard. Just about all the features that you crave have been added for your enjoyment as well as requirements.

The board itself was a remarkably stable competitor with good to excellent overclocking and bench speeds. Feature wise, the addition of Firewire controller would make an excellent addition to the already impressive line up. Layout wise, there are only a couple problems with this board - Power connector placement and the use of riser slot.

While it is nice to see cheap Intel solutions, these extra features would go nice on a high performance SiS 645DX or VIA P4X333 motherboard, only time will tell if we get it though.

-Moderate Overclocking potential

-USB 2.0

-Vcore only goes up to 1.8v

-AGP/PCI divider selection would be nice

-4pin power connector in less than convenient place.

Rating: 8.5 out of 10.
