Introduction

Put simply, a mouse pad is the piece of material that you glide your mouse over when using the computer. Before FPS (First Person Shooter) games such as Quake III Arena and Counter-Strike became popular, many users did not care about the type of mousepad they used, nor what it looked like. In today's FPS games, however, precision, accuracy and rapid movements are very important. You have to be able to easily slide the mouse across the mousing surface without any hinderance so you can aim where you want to, when you want to. Sure, the type of mouse you use also has a lot to do with how well you play games, but this means nothing if you don't have a decent mouse pad.

A US based company called Everglide was one of the first to notice the demand for a quality mouse pad and decided to produce a range of pads that catered specifically for gamers. Among these were the Giganta and the Attack Pad, which have been praised by reviewers and gamers around the world. The Attack Pad was smaller and cheaper, while the Giganta was larger and thus, more expensive. However, something was still missing as both these pads were still quite expensive and out of reach for some gamers. To fill in the gaps, Everglide recently announced their latest mousing surface, the "Gaming Mat". This pad sells for a low US$9.95 and comes in various unique designs. Can Everglide continue their trend of high quality mousing surfaces? Read on to find out!
