Patriot Warp V2 128GB 2.5” Solid State Drive

Specifications, Availability and Pricing

The Warp’s specifications look like a poster of everything that is good about solid state drives; from the extreme operating temperature range to the high shock protection. The Warp has the highest claimed sustained read speed of any drive we have tested to date; even the write speed for this MLC drive is higher than the latest Raptor we have tested.
When it comes to price, the 128GB market is heating up. In the U.S. OCZ was the first to announce their CORE Series and they’ve done a really good job getting the word out. But when it comes to price vs. performance, the Super Talent 128GB SSD and Patriot Warp appear to be better bargains. The Warp at Newegg is a full 120 Dollars less than the OCZ Core 2, which on paper appears to be a slower drive.
The availability of the Patriot Warp is much better than I expected. As stated in the introduction, the Warp is available at my local Fry’s; while this isn’t exactly the same being in every mom and pop computer store, it does mean that Patriot is releasing the drive in numbers high enough to penetrate the market. You can also find the Warp at all of the usual e-tail outfits at prices a little less than retail.
