Testing

Although the Ferrari Force Feedback racing wheel supports both the PC and Playstation 2, I only had a PC available to test it with. The games I tested with were Need For Speed 5, Formula 1 Racing Championship and Nascar 3. All of these games are great racing titles and were able to test this wheel to its limits.

The Ferrari Force Feedback wheel played these games very nicely, and the force feedback feature made me feel like I was actually driving the car. The gear stick was very useful and made playing the games twice as fun and realistic. The buttons on the wheel were smartly placed, being very easy to reach while in a race. Although I rarely used them, they are sure to come in handy for some of you.

Overall, I really liked the design of this wheel. Even after playing for two hours straight, I did not get any cramps in my arms or hands and the rubber steering wheel cover was very comfortable. All of the levers and buttons were easy to reach and the clamp-like installation made sure that the wheel did not move an inch while in use.

In most racing titles you are able to set the strength of the force feedback effect. When it was set to default, I found it to be very powerful and sometimes even overwhelming. It certainly adds to the intensity of the game and makes it much more realistic. However, during a serious race I recommend that you turn it off because, although it is fun, I found it slightly more difficult to play when force feedback was turned on.

As I mentioned earlier, one of the only problems I had while using the Ferrari Force Feedback wheel was the fact that the pedals are too light. I found that while in a race they tend to move around quite a bit which was quite annoying and difficult to play with.
