Final Thoughts

Overall, the Rosewill RX81-MP-SC is a very capable external enclosure that will be a simple and effective manner of backing up all of your important data. After all, we put in a lot of hard work and often save this information for years. Add to this the popularity of MP3 devices and ripping movies for viewing on our laptops and we have a definite need for safe data storage away from our main PC. This product gives you the ability to use that spare SATA drive and easily have backup space for those important files.

Performance did not step away from the competition, but it was right in line with similar products currently being offered. This model also has a large number of connection ports so you can attach your drive in any number of ways. With ports for USB 2.0. eSATA and both versions of Firewire, your data storage needs will be met regardless of your preferred method of hooking to an external device.

As far as price is concerned, this model has an MSRP of $149.99US but can easily be found online for about $80. For those who want a similar product but would like to save a few bucks by not having the IEE1394 connectivity, you can find the RX81-MP-US model for about $45 or so online. While not the cheapest solution available, this price point is roughly in the middle for both products. This is also considering that ALL cabling is included in the package, which isn't always the case with products I have tested in the past.
