We compare Promise's SAS controller against the more common onboard SATA RAID of today to see if there are yields.

Final Thoughts

Promise, like Highpoint has really put a lot of work into its own line of controller cards, and it truly has paid off. The SuperTrak EX controller has an amazing amount of speed on tap.

With the extra ports available the SuperTrak EX is definitely a good alternative and replacement of the onboard controllers if you're after the most amount of speed you can get along with redundancy.

Overall, the Promise SuperTrak EX is a definite controller if you're after speed, reliability and redundancy for the server market; and if you have a spare x16 slot on your desktop board you're going to love this baby too.
