Package and Contents



HighPoint’s packaging scheme hasn’t changed; the white, red and blue colour scheme for their desktop and server line of cards remains the same. However, HighPoint does things a bit differently by placing a colour photo of the actual controller on the front of the box so that you can see it even if it’s up on a shelf. This keeps you in the know as to what you’re getting before you even get your hands on the box.



The back also has a colour photo of the controller card with explanations of the functions that the card supports along with a lot of marketing hype that gives a bit of trivia about the card.



HighPoint’s software and user manual consists of a single user manual and a single CD. HighPoint’s user manual gives you some brief installation instructions as well as the onboard BIOS setup so you can boot from the HighPoint controller for OS installation.

The driver disc that comes with the package has Windows XP 32-bit and 64-bit, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista as well as Linux driver packages allowing you to use either the Windows OS of your choice or some of the more well known variants of the Linux distributions.



The cables that are provided to you by HighPoint consist of four extremely long internal SATA data cables. If you’re planning on installing this into a U1 server chassis that supports only half height cards, you get a half height PCI cover bracket too.
