ASUS Radeon EAH3850 TOP Graphics Card - Test System Setup and 3DMark05

THE HD 3850 is sitting in the shadows a bit. We look to see if it's deserving of more credit with an O/C'ed ASUS model.

TweakTown Rating: 91%      Manufacturer: ASUS

What we'll have a look at today is the 3850 TOP against a stock clocked 3870 also from ASUS. We'll also throw in a stock clocked 8800GT which comes in at a slightly higher price point.

While we already know the 3850 TOP will lag behind the two other cards, how much it lags behind is what we want to find out as it may allow you to get away with saving a few bucks and picking up the cheaper 3850.

3DMark05 is now the second latest version in the popular 3DMark "Gamers Benchmark" series. It includes a complete set of DX9 benchmarks which tests Shader Model 2.0 and above.

For more information on the 3DMark05 benchmark, we recommend you read our preview here.

In our initial testing, we can see here that it sits behind (but not too far behind) the more expensive 3870 and 8800GT.
