The Card

With the package out the way it’s time to move onto the card and see what exactly we have. As with most high end cards these days the cooler really manages to take up the majority of the card.

You can see that the Company of Heroes theme has also been carried over to the top of the heatsink.

Moving around the card we have a PCI Express connector at one end of the card, and if we keep on moving around we have our Crossfire connector located at the top of the card.

Finally we move over to the I/O side of things and see our two DVI connectors which both support up to 2560 x 1600 thanks to their Dual Link Connectivity support. We also have the standard TV-Out port that we have become so use to as well. We can also see that it’s a single slot cooler like the 8800GT which is a big plus for some people.

Specifications

With the card being a TOP model it is of course overclocked. The default core on the HD 3850 comes in at 670MHz while the memory carries a healthy clock of 1660MHz DDR.

ASUS have bumped up the speed of the card with the core going to 730MHz and the memory running just shy of 2GHz DDR at 1900MHz DDR.
