IntroductionThermaltake has over the years improved their product line-up immensely in terms of quality and workmanship, but recently there has been some stiff competition trying to steal the enthusiast market sector that they so neatly cornered since 2002 with the advent of the Xaser III Chassis series. It seems however that no matter how strong the competition, Thermaltake is not going to be phased, and has responded with the kind of product we are going to review today. The recently released Xaser VI is a chassis designed with aggressive lines, and certainly makes a bold statement. Xaser is pronounced “Zzzzaser” and it comes in various color configurations from silver, blue, black and red to mention a few, with this particular model being black with red trimmings. The style holds its own as part of the successful Xaser series and has a striking resemblance to the original Xaser III (stands to reason). What should be noted is that the Xaser III case/chassis was really the beginnings of the arms-race between case manufacturers, and at the time the monumental price associated with the Xaser III chassis was seen by some as prohibitive and perhaps a crazy gamble by Thermaltake.
Things have changed since then with many chassis manufacturers adopting similar styles and innovations to try to capture some of the gaming market that Thermaltake owns. Thankfully way back then Thermaltake stuck to their guns and are now reaping the rewards. The high prices for quality goods have become the expected norm. Every other case/chassis manufacturer is playing hot pursuit, but somehow each time Thermaltake manages to out run them.
Looking at the case, one can clearly see a sleek presentable design, and with lots of extra effort from the designers to make the case stand out as a progressive enthusiast’s gaming rig. It’s not unlike the aggressive tones seen on Sportster-Need for Speed type racing cars with body kits and trimmings to suit all tastes. This attention to detail can sometimes be a downfall if manufacturing standards are poor, but thankfully Thermaltake knows how to deliver the quality necessary to make their products stand out from the crowd.
