Our test system has not changed from the Crucial Ballistix memory review - we have kept the same Gigabyte P35 motherboard that has now proven to overclock quite well on the grand scheme of things.
Our control memory is the Corsair PC2-8500 memory modules we have been using in our test system for quite some time mow. These are not the world’s greatest overclocking modules; however, they do offer good timings and come in 2GB packs.
Our tests include the memory modules running at their SPD rated timings at 800MHz to gain a benchmark for how they run according to JEDEC standards. We then lowered the timings on the modules as low as possible to gain as low latency results are possible. This worked out to be 4-4-5-18 on the OCZ memory and 5-4-5-15 on the Corsair memory.
Lastly clock speed overclocking was done. We ran the memory modules at their highest possible speeds with SPD running. We managed 591MHz on the OCZ (2 x 512MB) and 536MHz on our Corsair (2 x 1GB) modules.
