BFG Tech GeForce 8600GTS OC Graphics Card (Factory Overclocked) - Benchmarks - Test System Setup and 3DMark05

By: Shawn Baker | NVIDIA GeForce GPU in Video Cards | Posted: Apr 26, 2007 4:00 am
TweakTown Rating: 9.0%Manufacturer: BFG Tech

Test System Setup

Processor(s): Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.33GHz (366MHz x 9 and FSB 1:1)

Motherboard(s): Abit IN9 32X-MAX Wi-Fi (Supplied by Universal Abit)

Memory: 2 X 1GB Crucial PC8000 5-5-5-15 (Supplied by Crucial)

Hard Disk(s): Hitachi 80Gig 7200RPM SATA 2

Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP2, Forceware 158.16

With the BFG Tech 8600GTS in hand we compared it to our reference 8600GTS which comes with 675MHz core instead of 710MHz and 2000MHz DDR memory like the BFG Tech.

With just a bump in core are we going to see much of a difference, and does it warrant the increased priced that is carried with the card?

3DMark05 is now the second latest version in the popular 3DMark "Gamers Benchmark" series. It includes a complete set of DX9 benchmarks which tests Shader Model 2.0 and above.

For more information on the 3DMark05 benchmark, we recommend you read our preview here.

While the BFG Tech is slightly faster it is not anything huge.
