XFX GeForce 8800GTS 320MB XXX (Factory Overclocked)

Our next step on the list is overclocking - we fired up our favorite clocking tool ATI Tool and got things under way.

We were able to increase the default XFX XXX clock speeds from 580MHz / 1800MHz DDR to 608MHz / 1908MHz DDR which is quite impressive considering the card is already overclocked.

You might think you could just take a default clocked card like the MSI offering and just skip straight to these speeds but that isn't always possible since XFX need to "hand pick" memory and chips that they know will operate properly at these higher factory clocked settings. Hence you'll (most likely always) have a better chance overclocking the XFX XXX edition higher than a cheaper version of the same card.

Let's go ahead and see what type of difference this makes to the overall performance in just a sample of tests for some basic comparison purposes.

We don't see a huge gain but it does give us a little bump.

We also see a slight bump in PREY but nothing to get too excited about.

We leave with a small increase in COH but nothing huge again.
