QNAP ANNOUNCES 2 NEW ULTRA-HIGH PERFORMANCE 4-DRIVE RACK MOUNTED NAS SERVERS
New Models Feature up to 8TB capacity, Intel ® ATOM 1.6GHz CPU and 1 GB DDRII System Memory in a 1U Rack Mounted Chassis with Optional Redundant Power Supply and a Host of High Performance
Taipei, Taiwan (August 10, 2009) - QNAP Systems, Inc., a leading manufacturer of world class NAS servers, NVR Video Surveillance Systems, and Network-based Video Players today expanded their Turbo NAS lineup with a pair of new ultra-high performance NAS servers for the corporate and entry-level enterprise market. The new TS-439U-RP and TS-439U-SP models are both 4-drive 1U rack mounted NAS servers with hot-swappable drives that are capable of up to 8TB total capacity using 2TB drives. The newly-designed hard disk cartridges support 2.5" or 3.5" hard drives, giving users more flexibility in selecting drives for installation. The TS-439U-RP and TS-439U-SP feature Intel ATOM 1.6GHz CPUs and 1GB DDRII memory, making them capable of incredible performance; up to 87.3MB/sec transfer rate for an FTP read with RAID 5 enabled. Both models can be configured for RAID 0/1/5/6/5+ spare, and JBOD with online RAID capacity expansion and RAID level migration. Both models feature iSCSI Target service with Thin Provisioning and dual Gigabit LAN ports with port trunking (support 7 bonding modes) and multi-IP setting.
The primary difference between the TS-439U-RP and TS-439U-SP is the RP model includes a redundant power supply that will automatically kick in if the other fails. The SP model includes a single power supply, but is upgradable with an optional redundant power supply that can be installed without powering down the unit.
The TS-439U-RP and TS-439U-SP are fully compatible with Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and UNIX networks and feature business-essential features such as AES 256-bit volume-based encryption, policy-based IP blocking, secure FTP, encrypted remote replication for backing up the NAS server to another NAS server over the network, email or SMS alerts if drives in the NAS server fail or are about to fail, and much more.
"QNAP means business with these exciting new models" said Meiji Chang, CEO of QNAP Systems, Inc. "With the most comprehensive lineup of any NAS server manufacturer, the TS-439U family reinforces our commitment to our corporate, entry-level enterprise and data center customers. While our competition tries to sell business customers a consumer-level NAS server, QNAP delivers true business-class NAS servers with best in class performance and features, and rock steady reliability" Mr. Chang added.
The TS-439U-RP and TS-439U-SP come standard with QNAP's new V3 of its NAS management software, embedded as firmware, adding significant new features including virtual disk drives support (up to 8 virtual disks via iSCSI expansion over the network), exclusive QNAP RAID Recovery that can recover an inactive RAID 1, 5, or 6 due to unintentional removal of drives. Network Discovery Services are enhanced with new Bonjour support offering zero-configuration networking for HTTP, SAMBA, FTP, AFP, and SSH based networks, and full UPnP support. Other new features of the V3 firmware include EXT4 support for very large volumes and file sizes, SNMP support, and bitmap support for faster rebuilding of RAID volume after a crash or adding/removing a drive. Version 3 includes an all-new AJAX-based web interface that is extremely easy to use and is broadly compatible with popular web browsers.
QNAP offers the broadest lineup of NAS server enclosures currently available. QNAP Turbo NAS series NAS servers are available in 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8-bay desktop (QNAP exclusive feature) and rack mount configurations to fit the needs of consumer, small/medium business, workgroups, and entry-level enterprise networks. QNAP NAS servers feature hot-swap removable cartridge drives throughout the entire lineup, and offer unique features including iSCSI, and dual Gigabit LAN ports with fail-over, load-balancing and multi-IP setting capabilities for all Intel-based models. QNAP NAS servers are ideal for simple website hosting, ultra-high performance RAID storage supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 5+ hot spare, stand-alone file downloading, network-wide backups, printer sharing, video surveillance, and a whole lot more. QNAP NAS servers are fully compatible with Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and UNIX networks and incorporate green power management technologies.
The TS-439U-RP and TS-439U-SP NAS servers will be available starting in August 2009. All shipping package will include a pair of rack slide rail kit for free. The optional redundant power supply for the TS-439U-SP will be available at the time of launching
QNAP NAS servers are widely available through popular commercial distributors, resellers, and e-tailers worldwide. For more information, including product spec sheets and high resolution images, please visit http://www.qnap.com
