Toshiba gets smart with new consumer range

Toshiba gets smart with new consumer range

Thinking About an Easier Lifestyle

Sydney 24 July 2009: Keeping your memories safe, catching your favourite TV program and checking your notebook's health are just some of the new features Toshiba has introduced in its extensive new range of consumer notebooks launching this week.

The suite of 15 notebooks across five different product lines incorporates a number of new Smart Features designed to ensure technology is seamlessly integrated into every-day life including:

• Reliability & Connectivity
• Personality
• Visibility
• Entertainment and
• Environment

"Notebooks have increasingly become a central device for watching movies on the go, listening to music, storing photos and documents and accessing the internet," says Anthony Geronimo, product marketing manager, Toshiba ISD.

"We've been listening to our customers and have responded with five new simple features that enhance our user's technology experience," he said.

The standout feature across the new range (except the U500) is the 16:9 aspect ratio which provides a true cinematic experience letting you enjoy movies and games in their intended format - not cropping or stretching them to fit the screen.

Reliability and Connectivity

The in-built health monitor means you can easily check your notebook's well-being so you can take remedial action before things come to a sudden stop. 3D HDD locks your pictures and personal files in by instantly shutting down the hard drive upon a sudden knock or fall.

Personality

Recharge your MP3 or any other device through your notebook - even while it is turned off. You can do all this with just one plug which means there's no need to carry around a bag of rechargers.

Visibility

eSATA (External Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) can transfer files up to six times faster than previously and a backlit full-sized keyboard together with a wide screen allows you to stay working, playing or relaxing when the light is low.

You can log on very quickly and easily with the face recognition or fingerprint scanner. You'll never need to remember a password again.

Entertainment

The media buttons enable you to press ''play'' on your notebook as you link wirelessly to your television. The buttons also mean you are only a click away from the internet and email.

The TV tuner means you can catch your favourite TV show on the move with crisp sound through the Harmon Kardon speakers.

Environment

The eco button constantly monitors your power consumption and impact on the environment which gives you the choice to use your notebook in power saving mode and maintains a history of how much power you have saved over the past day, week, month and year.
