Surfing the Internet over WiMAX at Computex - MSI Leads the Way
-Taipei-WiMAX, the latest generation of high transmission wireless telecommunications, is scheduled to be launched soon and MSI is ready with its aesthetically pleasing and popular Wind U120 Series and MSI X-Slim. In addition to being equipped for WiMAX, these lean, mean machines incorporate Intel's CULV ultra-low power platform. They will be displayed in the WiMAX area of Taipei Computex which opens its doors on June 2. Furthermore, the diminutive Wind U120 will make its debut on the newly opened Neihu-Muzha Line of the Taipei MRT, allowing the public the opportunity to experience WiMAX first hand while riding the MRT.
Major corporations around the world have been preparing for WiMAX for many years, but only recently have telecommunication companies begun providing related services to their customers. Nor has MSI been asleep at the wheel. Far from it. Insisting on perfection, MSI has utilized innovative technology to incorporate WiMAX into its newest notebooks and mini notebooks.
MSI R&D Director Vincent Sung points out that MSI's chic 13" X-Slim X340, which just hit the market, comes equipped with the Intel CULV platform and is WiMAX optional. Weighing in at a mere 1.3kg, the X-Slim X340 allows consumers to enjoy high-speed wireless connectivity, even when riding the MRT.
Sung explains that the X-Slim X340 is only 1.98cm thick overall and 6mm at its thinnest point. Both the X-Slim X340 and the soon-to-be-unveiled X-Slim X600 are ultra modern. Because it also employs the Intel CULV platform, the X-Slim X600 also boasts low energy consumption and extended battery life. Less than 1-inch thick and weighing less than 2kgs, its powerful internal video card and multimedia functions allow you to enjoy home theater entertainment wherever you go.
Sung indicates that WiMAX is also optional with the popular Wind U120 which was the first mini laptop in the world to be WiMAX capable. Following the success of last year's Wind U100, the Wind U120 also offers a visually-optimized 10" screen and boasts complete functionality, including large disk storage, a high pixel camera, and unique application software developed exclusively by MSI.
Because it comes equipped with WiMAX capability, the Wind U120 is set to be the first mini notebook on new MRT line. MSI and the Taipei Computer Association point out that WiMAX base stations have been installed along the Taipei MRT's Neihu-Muzha line, slated to open in June, and WiMAX-capable MSI Wind U120s will be mounted for passenger use in two cars on each train. Riders from near and far will marvel at Taiwan's advanced technology as they surf the Internet on the Wind U120s using WiMAX.
MSI Technology will attend Computex June 2~6. Its main exhibition area will be Booth L507a located in the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall, while MSI's WiMAX booth will be in the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1, Booth 415.
