Winamp is shutting down, kicked too much Llama ass

I still remember using Winamp for the first time - it really kicks the Llama's ass - but now it is shutting down... next month. On December 20, Winamp will be no more.

AOL, who own Winamp, is shutting down Winamp.com, too, so there'll be no more downloads of the player from December 20. Winamp is nothing now compared to the likes of iTunes, Spotify and the like, but if you want to have that nostalgic bell ring in your head, go ahead and kick some Llama ass and download Winamp now.

There are some huge games out right now, with Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and Need for Speed: Rivals, just to name a few. Well, NVIDIA has your back, with some new GeForce drivers in the form of the 331.82 WHQL set.

The new drivers also have support for ShadowPlay and GameStream for SHIELD owners, which is a nice touch. Optimizations are included for the biggest, latest games, including BF4, COD: Ghosts, and Batman: Arkham Origins. You can get the new NVIDIA drivers right here.

New Chrome beta lets you close those pesky audio tabs

Sometimes Google Chrome will be playing audio through a tab, and if you're like me, you have 20+ tabs open at once. When this happens, it can be so hard to find it, but the latest Chrome beta stops that.

The latest beta of Chrome now shows a small speaker icon next to its name, which indicates that there is audio playing in the tab. This is a brilliant little addition, that helps a lot. But, the Mountain View-based giant aren't the first to do something like this, but a little addition like this does go a long way.

Ubisoft retires its Uplay Passport for all future titles

If you didn't know the frustration of Ubisoft's Uplay Passport, maybe you never will since the company has canned it. It was a one-time-use code that gave gamers access to online features, but from here on out, it will not be featured in any titles.

The first title from Ubisoft to not feature Uplay Passport will be the upcoming sure fire hit, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. Ubisoft has said: "The Uplay Passport program was initiated as a means of giving customers full access and support for online multiplayer and features, along with exclusive content, bonuses and rewards. However, games today are blurring the line between offline and online, between what is 'single player' and what is 'multiplayer.' Based on that and on the feedback we received from you, we recognized that Passport is no longer the best approach for ensuring that all our customers have the best possible experience with all facets of our games."

Ubisoft has confirmed that Uplay resulted in Black Flag gamers being restricted the single-player portion of the game's fleet management system, which isn't good.

Plex gets updated, now includes Cloud Syncing and "Bookmarklet"

Plex is one of those pieces of software that some of us just can not live without, and today the media server and streaming app just got even better. Today Plex announced that it has updated its software to add in some awesome and useful features including the ability to sync media to cloud storage services.

TweakTown image news/3/3/33640_1_plex_gets_updated_now_includes_cloud_syncing_and_bookmarklet.jpg

Cloud Sync for Plex allows users to link up their Dropbox, Google Drive, and Box accounts and any media you sync to those services will automatically be optimized for streaming and then uploaded to the cloud alongside the files metadata. This allows users to have a sudo media server in the cloud for use when they are away from home.

Additionally, a new feature has been included that will allow users to save videos from their favorite sites and queue them up for viewing at a later time. This feature lets users find videos on their laptop or PC and then queue it up for viewing on their connected TV. This is accomplished by downloading a plugin for your browser which you can find at the second source link below.
