Mark Rein has talked with Engadget, shedding some light on his comments that Unreal Engine 4 wouldn't be heading to the Nintendo Wii U, where he said:
If someone wants to take Unreal Engine 4 and ship a game on Wii U, they can. If they wanna ship an Unreal Engine 4 game on Xbox 360, they could make it happen.
So it looks like Epic Games might not be releasing games themselves on the Wii U, but have no problems licensing out their next-generation engine to other developers, and have them ship UE4-based games to the Wii U. Interesting.

We showed you some of those gorgeous graphics that Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4 is capable of, but it looks like the next-generation graphics engine won't be working with Nintendo's Wii U console. Even with Epic Games themselves saying that UE4 is super scalable, so much so that it can be scaled from next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 4, all the way down to mobile devices and web browsers.
Epic co-founder Mark Rein was asked if UE4 can be scaled down to the Nintendo Wii U, where he said:
Ha-ha, no. I mean, sorry, it's not really a correct answer. We're not... we have Unreal Engine 3 for the Wii U. Right? And Unreal Engine 3 is powering all kinds of amazing games, still lots of games are being made with Unreal Engine 3.
StarCraft II is a game of some serious mouse clicking, but what if there was a way that you could play the games by just moving your eyeballs and pressing a single button? Well, Tobii has some very cool eye-tracking system that uses an infrared tracking camera and an infrared illuminator to pinpoint the precise location of your pupils.

The thing to remember here is that all of these actions are entirely independent of the location of the mouse cursor. Effectively, you're getting a second cursor, controlled by wherever you look, to use at the same time as the mouse. For example, you can target a Psi Storm with your eyes while simultaneously using your mouse to select and move your High Templar to safety. And as Fredrik points out, when you move around the map with your gaze, your mouse never has to leave your units and your fingers never have to leave your hotkeys.
Epic's new demo from GDC 2013, Infiltrator, runs 100% in-engine in real time. Infiltrator shows off UE4's high end rendering features as well as the latest tools. All of this UE4 technology is available to Epic's licensees right now.When Sony announced their PlayStation 4, I have to admit what I was shown was impressive, but I was not blown away anywhere near as much as I thought I'd be. Well, that fuzzy feeling is back with Epic Games showing off their Unreal Engine 4 once again at GDC 2013.
Epic's new UE4 demo 'Infiltrator' shows off the 100% in-game engine, all in real-time. Epic used a single GeForce GTX 680 to pull it off, which makes the whole thing much more impressive. All I want for Christmas, apart from my two front teeth, is a bunch of games with this graphics engine, I'm not being greedy, am I?
OUYA has begun shipping its Android based gaming consoled out to all of its nearly 65,000 Kickstarter backers. The first consoles began rolling out yesterday and it is expected to take a few weeks to complete.
OUYA said that the console already has over 100 games ready to play in the form of a free trial including big name titles such as Final Fantasy III, Beast Boxing Turbo and Stalagflight.
There is one catch though, users will have to enter their credit card information before any games can be downloaded. This includes downloads of entirely free games. The OUYA will also see an update upon first run which the company promises will be quick and painless.
Activision has shown off an incredible animated face that is so life-like it could be mistaken for a real person. Check it out below:
Activision showed off this character, described as "next-generation character rendering", during a talk about real-time graphics at GDC 2013. Activision says that an animation, like the one above, can be rendered in real-time on a user's GPU, rather than the massive rendering farms used during animated movie production.
There is still a bit more work to go before be arrive at something perfect, but with graphics capabilities increasing every year, it shouldn't be too long before Activision makes a face that is completely indistinguishable from the real thing.
OUYA unveiled the UK pricing structure for its Android based gaming console today. The console with one controller will set UK buyers back 99.99 pounds with additional Bluetooth controllers costing 39.99 pounds each. The device should hit UK shelves in June.
This news comes as the company is set to begin shipping the gaming consoles to its Kickstarter backers today. OUYA was backed by 63,416 people and grossed over $8.5 million for its Tegra 3 based console. If you did not get a chance to back the company's Kickstarter, OUYA has opened up pre-orders in both the US and UK through its website.
Yesterday I reported on Makerbot and OUYA teaming up to release a 3D printable customized case for the console, and after discussing things internally here at TweakTown, I have decided that I will print some special TweakTown Edition OUYA cases in TweakTown blue and we will hold a giveaway for them.

GDC 2013 - We're still walking the halls of the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, where we popped by the AMD booth to check out an insane 5-screen EyeFinity setup.
What makes this stand out is that the 5 screens were running from a single Radeon HD 7970, pumping out nothing less than 8200x900. This is a weird resolution, as it means AMD are using five 1640x900 screens. I'm sure they're just using Full HD-capable screens with the resolution notched down to handle their huge pixel count in Tomb Raider using TressFX.
That might not seem like much on the surface, but Unreal Engine 3 powers some of today's best games, such as BioShock Infinite, Mass Effect 3, Batman: Arkham City and many more. Mozilla's biggest issue right now is getting the load times down within the browser, where right now you might be waiting up to half an hour for your game to stream "a gigabyte of map data and texture from a Web server."
Mozilla currently have no ETA on when we could expect UE3 within Firefox, but at least we know it's on its way.
GDC 2013 - Something a little different here, with Trace stopping by German indie developer Threaks, to check out their game Beatbuddy. Beatbuddy is different to anything I've seen before - the goal of the game to work your way through a song.
You might be battling against bassdrums, or a huge chorus, with the musical structure of each song is represented in the actual game world itself. The game itself is turned into an interactive journey through music. You can see from the video above that it is just that - a game world created, and thriving with music.
Threaks have been developing Beatbuddy for three years now, and have three months left until it is released into gamers hands, or is that ears?
GDC 2013 - With Trace walking around the halls of the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, he stumbled across something cool from AMD - some motion capture technology demo using a simple webcam.
As you can see from the video above, the camera captures Trace's face quite well (I think he looks better on the left) but this technology could be used in the future for facial expressions in games. It could be nice to see this technology built into more casual games, or if it could capture your face in real-time for games like Battlefield 4, and played directly into the game so other players could see.
