Apollo 18 is a movie filmed in the "found footage" documentary style which involves the story of the Apollo 18 undocumented and covert mission to the moon which reveals other life forms which are quite disturbing.
The movie is produced by Night Watch/Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov with the movie poster teasing "There's a Reason We've Never Gone Back To The Moon." It's like the love child of Paranormal Activity and Alien and actually looks quite good.
The trailer for Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class has hit the internet. The movie is described as a "Casino Royale-style prequel/reboot of the comic book series".
The story of First Class "charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events." The trailer looks quite impressive, with a tonne of action scenes that I'm looking forward to seeing. I think it will at least be better than the third X-Men movie.
Superbowl 2011 is one of the most exciting times of the year for an Australian like me. I don't want the football action, but give me those $3 million, 30 second movie teasers that roll around each year and I'm a happy boy. This year is no different, we have the finale of Michael Bay's Transformers movies, JJ Abrams' Spielberg-ian Super 8 and Chris "Flame-On" Evans as Captain America. Check out the first trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon below:
Well, that was just off it's dial wasn't it? Looking forward to that a fair bit for turn-your-brain-off special effects pr0n. Next up we have JJ Abrams Super 8. I personally think it gets the 1980's feel just right and feels like Close Encounters mixed with The Goonies, with an entire new angle I'm sure we'll see from Abrams.
Reports of this surfaced last year and personally, I was running around the house screaming "I need TP for my bunghole!" Mike Judge is now back as creative extraordinaire and of course, the voices behind the title characters - Beavis and Butthead.
EW.com reports that MTV made the announcement at their Upfront presentation in New York yesterday. I for one cannot wait, nostalgia is a great thing and I just hope the humor that Beavis and Butthead had in the 90's is continued in today's society somehow. *insert Beavis's laugh here*
I would bet that a bunch of you have watched shows on Hulu that you missed during the week. Hulu is a great way to catch up on the shows you miss or that your DVR can't record. The catch is that some of the shows don't show up for weeks after they air on TV making you even more behind.
Hulu has announced that it has signed a new content agreement with Viacom. The agreement will get some Viacom shows back on Hulu the morning after they air. These shows include The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. The deal will also bring some of the cool older shows Viacom has to Hulu Plus subscribers. Any geek that was around in the 90's probably watched Beavis & Butthead. The deal will get the back episodes of the animated comedy on Hulu Plus along with Chappelle's Show (I'm Rick James Biatch!), The Hills, and Reno 911 as well.
Other new shows will hit Hulu Plus 21 days after they first air. These 21-day delay shows will include Jersey Shore, Teen Mom 2, and Tosh.0. A 21-day delay might as well be never in my book; I have forgotten about a show by that point and don't care to watch it.
If you are a home theater fan in the UK that uses a Samsung Blu-ray player that is internet connected and supports apps you are getting a new feature to enjoy. Samsung has announced that it will be integrated the streaming video service LOVEFiLM into its full line of Blu-ray players for the UK.
Once the app lands any LOVEFiLM subscriber on a plan that is £5.99 monthly or more will be able to activate the app and stream films. The app will be offered via the Samsung Internet@TV service and will have a range of content. The content will include a number of Hollywood blockbuster films and independent films such as Cannes Film Festival nominees.
Samsung says that more apps will be coming during the year for the Blu-ray players. Andy Griffiths, Vice President, Consumer Electronics, Samsung UK comments, "Adding the LOVEFiLM streaming service to all Samsung Blu-ray players and Blu-ray Home Theatre Systems is great news for us at Samsung as we're dedicated to providing our customers with relevant and exciting content, all from the comfort of their own home."
The new son of Krypton is, Henry Cavill. Warner Bros and Zack Synder (of Watchmen and 300 fame) are rebooting Superman and have finally cast The Man of Steel. The company sent out a press release this morning announcing it.
There are no hard details on the movie yet, but the casting is now done for the main character and from the above photoshopped image, it doesn't look too bad at all! Hopefully they're smart in their casting of Lois, Zod, Luthor, etc.
A film based on the PlayStation 3-exclusive title Heavy Rain is coming to a theatre near you soon. The Warner Bros. production is being prepped by NYPD Blue and Deadwood creator David Milch.
Milch is in charge of making the film from David Cage's Heavy Rain and it said to be named "Rain". Milch will get his hands dirty with production once he has completed work on the first season of HBO's new series based on horse-racing, Luck. No release date has been mentioned.
Came across this on my daily troll of websites, a clip from a 2010 Indian science-fiction film Enthiran. The clip is just crazy-insane with over-the-top action, it combines Terminator with The Matrix and even then, those movies seem tame compared to this!
Co-written and directed by S. Shankar, Enthiran is reported to be one of the most expensive films made in India. It includes Rajinikanth in dual roles, a scientist who is struggling to control his android robot created, whilst simultaneously playing the actual Android. The movie was shot over a two year period beginning in 2008 after eight years in development.
