Game of Thrones' third season premiere is the most-watched episode yet, downloaded just as much, too

We already know that Game of Thrones, the uber-popular HBO TV show was the most pirated show of 2012, but the show's season three premiere episode had some stellar numbers, too.

TweakTown image news/2/9/29461_01_game_of_thrones_third_season_premiere_is_the_most_watched_episode_yet_downloaded_just_as_much_too.jpg

It aired last night, and saw 6.7 million US fans tuning in, but how were those download numbers considering it was the most pirated show of last year? Well, according to Torrent Freak, a single torrent of the season three premiere saw 160,000 simultaneous connections - but adding all of the releases together in one big pile of downloads would see well over one million downloads.

HBO even allowed viewers to watch the season premiere in more ways than usual, where the network allowed customers to stream Game of Thrones through HBO Go at the same time that cable subscribers watched it live.

The Wolverine trailer is here, Hugh Jackman fights some ninjas

Hugh Jackman is back in The Wolverine, another movie dedicated to the character. There's an international trailer that was released a couple of hours ago, which we've got embedded below.

The new movie goes in a very different direction, where The Wolverine takes place in a post X-Men: The Last Stand world. It sees Wolverine travelling the world, and what seems like, being turned back into a mortal - ala Superman II and a bunch of other movies where the hero wants to be normal and then an obstacle hits them and they revert back to their hero-ness.

This summer looks to be action-packed, with The Wolverine reaching screens on July 26, the new Superman reboot Man of Steel a month and a half earlier and Iron Man 3.

Netflix enlists the help of The Matrix creators for a new original series called Sense8

It's about time the Wachowski's (who are now longer the 'Wachowski Brothers', as Larry is now Lana) got into TV. Netflix have just announced an original new series for late-2014, Sense8.

TweakTown image news/2/9/29378_08_netflix_enlists_the_help_of_the_matrix_creators_for_a_new_original_series_called_sense8.jpg

Sense8 is being developed by the Wachowskis, as well as J. Michael Straczynski, the creator of Babylon 5. There aren't many details at all on the show, but it's a global tale of minds linked and souls hunted with a ten-episode run for its first season.

The idea of the Wachowskis and Straczynski working together has been something the creators have wanted for nearly ten years now, with the idea starting from a late night conversation about "the ways technology simultaneously unites and divides us."

RumorTT: Apple iTV to get 4K resolution, could launch as early as Q4 2013

In a weird twist of a rumor that is built off of another rumor, we are hearing reports this morning that the Apple iTV does exist and that it could be getting a 4K resolution. Reports are suggesting that the long-anticipated Apple iTV will arrive by the end of 2013.

TweakTown image news/2/9/29363_1_rumortt_apple_itv_to_get_4k_resolution_could_launch_as_early_as_q4_2013.jpg

In an interview with Bloomberg, renowned Apple analyst Gene Munster said that we will see an iTV device launched in Q4 of 2013, stating that there is "no question whether it's a set-top box versus a TV, it's an actual TV".

Bolstering these rumors is DigiTimes who is suggesting that the iTV will be getting a 4K resolution refresh shortly after launch. The 3840 x 2160 resolution screen could make its way into the iTV sometime in the first half of 2014, if rumors ring true. Additionally, DigiTimes cited sources familiar with Apple's supply chain stating that the internet connected TV will be voice controlled and feature a Kinect like motion sensor.

Samsung releases pricing for its massive 85-inch S9 Ultra HDTV, do you have a spare $39,999?

During this year's CES trade show in Las Vegas we saw a massive 4K Ultra HD TV from Samsung. The beast was perched in a welded metal frame and boasted a massive 85-inch 4K compatible LCD.

TweakTown image news/2/9/29225_1_samsung_releases_pricing_for_its_massive_s9_ultra_hd_tv_39_999.jpg

The 85-inch monster will hit store shelves (or floors, more likely) at the end of this month and will retail for a reported $39,999, making it one of the most expensive televisions on the market. Also expected to release soon is Samsung's Smart Evolution Kit which will retail for $300 and will connect to Samsung Smart TVs via Bluetooth to keep them updated with the latest software and firmware.

Also set to release around the same time is the HW-F750 Sound Bar, which features old school vacuum tube technology for a true HiFi sound experience. I do not know about you, but paying $300 for a device that updates my TV just seems a bit excessive. For $39,999, I would expect my TV to at least be capable of updating itself through it's built in Wi-Fi or Gigabit Ethernet connection.

The Hangover Part III's teaser trailer looks to redeem the franchise

A bit of a non-tech post here, but I'm sure there are plenty of you out there who love The Hangover. The third outing in the franchise, The Hangover Part III, is nearly here and now we have an official trailer to share with you.

From the snippets shown, it definitely looks like it could redeem the mess that was Part II, and finish it off in a truly epic fashion. The original was a blast and I can't wait to check the final movie out. What do you think? What do you think the characters will get up to in this one? Are we looking at another drugged-out, drunken haze of a mess they get themselves into?

The new trailer for Iron Man 3 will blow you away

Can you believe we're only a couple of months away from Iron Man 3? It felt like just yesterday that The Avengers was out, anyway, the latest trailer to Iron Man 3 is here and it is awesome. Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black, seeing the director of the previous two Iron Man films, Jon Favreau, take a back seat.

As you can see from the above trailer, Iron Man 3 is going to be filled with a bunch of action and some great comedy thanks to Shane Black's direction. From what I've read, they actually explain within the movie why Tony Stark doesn't ask for The Avengers' help, which should be interesting in itself.

Audio out on the remote is a nice touch, with headphones included this makes for a truly personal (and private) experience. Roku 3 also includes a refreshed UI that is also said to spread to the "current generation" players, such as the Roku 2, HD, LT and Streaming Stick, as soon as next month.

RumorTT: Harrison Ford to return as Han Solo in latest Star Wars movie

Reports are surfacing that the elderly Harrison Ford will be returning as Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars film. El Mayimbe of Latino Review says that his return is a sure-thing: "His deal is done, it's just a formality right now, they haven't really announced it yet."

TweakTown image news/2/8/28565_1_rumortt_harrison_ford_to_return_as_han_solo_in_latest_star_wars_movie.jpg

We're still not sure that this is the case as the movie is still in its infancy, though there have been numerous other rumors that proved true. For instance, the rumor that J.J. Abrams would be the director proved true, so it is certainly possible this one will work out as well.

The source has been correct in other movie scoops before, as well, which lends some credence to this rumor. If the decision has already been made and a deal done, the announcement shouldn't be too far in the future. Worst case is we will know for sure when the movie comes out.

Raspbmc reaches final release one year after its inception

Just over one year after its inception, Raspbmc has hit its final development release, version 1.0. Raspbmc is of course the Linux distro aimed at creating a perfect merger between the famed $35 Raspberry Pi and the popular media center software XBMC.

TweakTown image news/2/8/28533_1_raspbmc_reaches_final_release_1_year_after_its_inception.jpg

Since its release, the Raspberry Pi has been popular among the HTPC crowd because of its cheap price and high performance hardware. Sam Nazarko, the terrifyingly young developer of Raspbmc started the project just over a year ago, and has today announced that it has reached the final release for its version 1.0.

On his blog, Nazarko said:

"I've been working on Raspbmc for a year and am now happy to announce the final release and congratulate XBMC on such a remarkable new release. Just to clarify what confused a few. Final does not mean we're not doing any more work, it means the 1.0 version of Raspbmc is available and stable.
