Looxcie offers support for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 for its wearable camcorder

The first year I went to CES years ago, I saw a geek running around the halls wearing a backpack stuffed with batteries and recording gear all to support the camera mounted to a hat he wore so he could post video of him actually moving around the show floor. I saw the dude leaning against things resting a lot, the rig had to weigh 30 pounds or so. Today you can do the same thing with the wearable Looxcie camcorder that supports Bluetooth.

This week Looxcie has announced that its camera is now supporting the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4G smartphones. The only caveat to supporting the camcorder on the Apple device is that you have to be running iOS 4.2 or higher. There is a Looxcie device on Amazon for sale now that is Made for iPhone certified.

DIY fisheye lens looks ghetto, but works well

I'm not big on making things myself aside from computers and messes. When it comes to large DIY projects like car work or building things, I farm them out to people I can yell at if things go wrong. If you are the DIY type who likes to take digital photos this may be a good project for you.

A research engineer from Industrial Light and Magic has conjured up a very ugly fisheye lens for his DSLR, but the thing works well and was cheap. The guy used a single element film projector lens, peephole, foam, hose clamp, and a lens adapter from eBay to cobble the lens together.

As you can see it is ugly, but the images it takes are impressive. The whole works cost under $20 apparently. If I made it the thing would be even uglier and be coated in blood where I cut myself on the can.
